CESARE PEROLA

The Istituto di Astrofisica Spaziale e Fisica cosmica of Milan expresses its deepest condolences for the death of Cesare Perola. Pupil of Beppo Occhialini, Professor Perola was a fundamental figure in the early years of the “cosmic ray group” which then became IASF: he started the research field of radio astronomy in the Institute, research that has been successfully continued by Giorgio Sironi, Peppo Gavazzi and the radio antennas that later became Planck . As if this was not enough, he switched to High Energy Astrophysics, and also thanks to him BeppoSax satellite has been conceived and launched. With Cesare one of the most important figures in the history of our Institute disappears.
