Athena

Athena (Advanced Telescope for High ENergy Astrophysics) is the X-ray observatory mission selected by ESA, within its Cosmic Vision programme, to address the Hot and Energetic Universe scientific theme. It is the second L(large)-class mission within that programme and is due for launch in early 2030s.  …

CTA

The Cherenkov Telescope Array is designed to observe from the ground gamma-ray sources at very-high energies (in the TeV energy range). Our Institute contributes to CTA through the ASTRI project (Astrofisica con Specchi a Tecnologia Replicante Italiana), which aims to provide to CTA a series of dual-mirror small-size telescopes (SST-2M ASTRI).

XMM-Newton

The ESA XMM-Newton mission is the most sensitive soft X-ray observatory ever flown. We contributed to almost all phases of the project and we are very active in investigating the X-ray sky by using both new observing programs and archival XMM-Newton data.
